Don't Tough It Out - Check It Out
It’s easy to crack on and hope it goes away. But changes in your body need checking. It might not be anything serious but if it is cancer, finding it early can mean more treatment options and a better chance of success.
- Don’t wait until it gets worse
- Don’t leave it for someone else to sort
- A quick check could make all the difference
- Make an appointment with your GP practice and tell them what’s changed.

Making an appointment at the GP surgery
If something doesn’t look or feel quite right, it’s important to get it checked.
You can make an appointment at your GP surgery:
- By telephoning
- Through the website at some surgeries
- Via the NHS app at some surgeries
If you can’t get through straight away it’s important to keep trying.
Your appointment might be in person or over the phone. You might see a doctor or another health professional, such as a nurse.
If you can’t get to a GP appointment because of your work hours, some surgeries have different options such as evening opening hours, walk-in clinics or weekend appointments. Find out what your surgery offers on their website or by asking the receptionist.
You can also get help for your symptoms by ringing the NHS on 111 or visiting 111.nhs.uk. They will tell you what to do next depending on your symptoms.
