Innovation Clinical Lead

Are you a clinician who wants to lead innovation, drive transformation and champion the latest technology across Cheshire and Merseyside?

Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance wants to appoint a regional Innovation Clinical Lead – a new role developed with the Health Innovation Network North West Coast.

We are looking for a strong clinical leader with experience of clinically evaluating innovation, implementing change to clinical pathways and embracing new technology.

Experience of gaining funding for innovative pathway change would be an advantage and having previously supported the submission of successful bids for innovation funding would be desirable.

The post is supported with 1PA (as part of corporate SPA allocation) per week and will initially run from January 2024 to March 2025.

The Innovation Clinical Lead will develop a network of clinical leaders for innovation across Cheshire and Merseyside, providing clinical expertise and encouraging colleagues to consider innovative and collaborative working across the local system.

The postholder will support the Cancer Alliance senior project manager to develop innovation project proposals and plans, including the creation of and innovation strategy.

They will also implement innovation across the local system and build relationships with innovation champions in other cancer alliances nationally, across the NHS Health Innovation Network and within the NHS Cancer Programme.

The Innovation Clinical Lead will directly support the Cancer Alliance to increase the uptake and delivery of innovative solutions for key system challenges with a focus on diagnosing more cancer at an early stage and increasing the number of people who survive more than five years after diagnosis.

They will also need to gain engagement from clinical colleagues, patients and Cancer Alliance colleagues, ensuring any innovation considers inclusivity and ways to reduce health inequity.

The role is due to begin in January 2024 and continue until 31st March 2025. However, the post will be reviewed in Q4 of 2024/2025 to assess future arrangements and any further funding agreements.

The role is supported with 1PA (as part of corporate SPA allocation) per week.
