Meet Hanc. He’s looking out for every bloke across Cheshire and Merseyside (especially if you are aged 40-plus), to make sure you’re all checking yourselves for head and neck cancer symptoms.

Head and neck cancer kills 4,000 people each year in the UK and more than 2 in 3 people who get these types of cancers are men.

Thankfully, by spotting the signs and getting checked out at your GP practice early, you can tackle any possible cancer quicker.

Look out for Hanc popping up in your area to remind you of how important your quick and simple monthly check is to you and your family: 60 seconds, 3 steps, once a month.

Read on to let him show you how it’s done.

Millions of men in the UK regularly check themselves for signs of cancer and most see that everything is as it should be.

However, if you notice anything unusual that isn’t going away, it is important to act as quickly as possible.

Contact your GP practice if you have had any of the following symptoms for two weeks or more:

  • A lump on your neck, lips, or in your mouth
  • Ulcers or red / red and white patches in your mouth or on your tongue
  • A persistent hoarse voice

Just because these types of cancers are more common in men, doesn’t mean that don’t affect women too. So, ladies, make sure you check yourselves just as regularly

Chances are you’ll be all good, but by performing Hanc’s simple check each month, you can give yourself the best chance of getting treated quickly and effectively if you need it.
