A brain cancer survivor from Wirral has received an award for his work helping others with the disease in Cheshire and Merseyside.

Dave Bolton, from Greasby, was given just months to live when he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, but he has defied the odds and in the nine years since his diagnosis he has helped cancer patients and their loved ones.

Dave and former Liverpool footballer Dominic Matteo launched Ahead Of The Game Foundation in New Brighton, a charity that gives free mental health support, counselling, financial guidance, guided walks and yoga sessions.

He has now been given an award by the National Lottery for his charity's work which was presented to him by 1980s pop star Martin Kemp.
