A gym fan from Chesire who thought she had strained her back was in total shock to learn that she had lung cancer.

Now Becca Smith, from Chester, is urging people to contact their GP surgery if they have signs or symptoms of the disease.

Becca, 29, had back pain for months but being a personal trainer was not immediately concerned. But then she had vision problems and, after a series of tests, clinicians told her it was lung cancer.

It is Lung Cancer Awareness month and Becca is warning others not to put off contacting their GP practice to check out strange or worrying changes to their body.

The cause of the cancer was later diagnosed as a gene mutation, which can be treated, and Becca is responding well.
