A Cheshire pilot has urged people to have their cervical screening test when offered as for her it caught worrying signals of cancer.
It is Cervical Screening Awareness Week (14-20 June 2021), when healthcare highlights the importance of cervical screening.
Also known as a smear test, it is free NHS health check that can help prevent cervical cancer. It checks for a virus called Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and finds any abnormal cells caused by it.
Lynsey Butcher, a 36-year-old airline captain from Burtonwood, in Warrington, had her screening and abnormal cells were found – and dealt with.
