An exciting new educational platform is coming in 2022 for Cheshire and Merseyside’s cancer healthcare workers.

In the coming weeks, Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance will launch a website of courses and resources, designed to improve the knowledge of cancer professionals.

The platform will bring together the very best in learning to support those helping to treat and care for people with cancer.

Here, Lucy Irwin, Project Manager for the platform, outlines how it will help cancer professionals.

One of the main beneficiaries of the platform will be Cancer Support Workers (CSWs), which are growing in number across Cheshire and Merseyside.

CSWs help those with cancer to navigate the healthcare system and support them in their treatment and aftercare.

In the video below, Dr Clare Byrne, Deputy Director of Nursing for Cancer Services at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, describes how CSWs have become vital members of the cancer healthcare team and why education is important to their role.
