A new £58,000 digital X-ray machine has been funded by a charity for Leighton Hospital in Crewe.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity has paid for the Tomosynthesis machine in the hospital’s Breast Care Unit.

The machine means breast cancers can be found sooner and cuts down on the number of unnecessary interventional procedures that are done.

Denise Davies, Superintendent & Lead Radiographer for the Breast Care Unit at Leighton Hospital, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who supports the fantastic work of Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, the funding for our Tomo machine has changed lives and we’re so grateful to be able to provide an improved quality of care thanks to this brilliant piece of kit.”
