An MP has called for more women to come forward for breast screening during a visit to a new NHS facility in Cheshire.

Mike Amesbury took a tour of the unit at Halton General Hospital, which cost £2.1m and recently opened.

Mr Amesbury said the Breast Care Centre at Halton General Hospital, which serves Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Warrington, was "impressive". The unit includes two new mammography rooms and two ultrasound clinic rooms.

He urged more women to come forward for the live-saving checks.
