A huge pair of lungs will greet Christmas shoppers in Halton on Friday – with the aim to get eligible people to have their own lungs checked out.
People aged between 55 and 74, who have ever smoked and are registered with a GP practice in Runcorn, are currently being invited to attend a targeted lung health check to see how well their lungs are working.
To promote the health checks – funded by Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance and organised by Halton CCG – there will be a community event at Runcorn Shopping City, with a team on hand to answer any questions people may have about the programme and encourage those eligible to attend.
The team, from the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, will also be raising awareness of signs and symptoms of lung cancer and promoting general lung health to those who are ineligible for the health check.
