Teams from Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance (CMCA) have been shortlisted for excellence awards by the region’s specialist cancer hospital.

CMCA’s Health Inequalities and Patient Experience team and the Alliance’s Community Partnerships team have both been shortlisted in the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award category, while the Urgent Cancer Care team is a finalist for its Hotline Transformation project in the Excellence in Quality Improvement and Innovation Award.

The annual Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Staff Excellence Awards celebrate the accomplishments of colleagues from across its Trust – which hosts CMCA – with a glittering ceremony in Liverpool.

Being held on Friday, 3rd October, and hosted by radio presenter Leanne Campbell, the awards will recognise the achievements of remarkable individuals and teams from across the Trust. The CMCA teams were chosen from more than 200 nominations.

Two individuals at Clatterbridge which the Cancer Alliance closely works with have also been shortlisted. Emma Davey, a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care, is shortlisted for the Clinical Unsung Hero of the Year Award and Kate Lacey, Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression Service Lead, who works with the Urgent Cancer Care team, is shortlisted for the Spirit of Clatterbridge Award.

Jon Hayes, Managing Director of CMCA, said: “It is fantastic to see our teams being recognised in this way and we wish them all the very best in the final. The Cancer Alliance works in partnership with hospital trusts and other NHS organisations across Cheshire and Merseyside, but we have a special relationship with Clatterbridge, so it is particularly pleasing to be celebrating our initiatives with them.”
