IMG-20220406-WA0008.jpgHealthcare professionals from Cheshire and Merseyside have attended a CMCA education session with a mix of face-to-face and online elements.

The Skin CQG Education Event at The Spine, in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter, was a hybrid meeting, with attendees listening to presentations face-to-face and from virtual speakers.

This event was organised with the help of CMCA Skin CQG Chair and Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Liz West. The Alliance has a number of CQGs, Clinical Quality Groups, which focus on different tumour types and are the source of expert clinical and professional advice on service issues.

This week’s event included presentations on subjects from specialist consultants on skin cancer, including:

  • Immunotherapy in Skin Cancer – Dr Anna Olsson-Brown
  • Intermediate Malignant Melanoma – Dr Elaine Hindle
  • Radiotherapy and Skin Cancer – Dr Zulfiqar Ali
  • Laser PDT – Miss Parneet Gill

Organiser Jenny Hackett said: “While CMCA has been organising events throughout the pandemic, this was our first CQG educational event since the onset of COVID-19 and also the first time we have carried out a hybrid meeting approach – face-to-face and virtual.

“It went really well and the technology at The Spine has really supported us doing this kind of session. As we go through the year, we expect more of these events.”

The Alliance would like to express its huge thanks to its colleagues Jenny Hackett, who led on the organisation of the event, and Katie Lawson, Cerys Power, Ellen Spriggs and Sarah Atherden, who supported her.
