Are you a nurse working with cancer patients in Cheshire or Merseyside who wants to help research into understanding the impact of the pandemic on your fellow nursing professionals?
The research team is looking for registered nurses in Cheshire or Merseyside to help with the study into the psychological effects of working during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nurses in primary, secondary, tertiary, specialised or community settings, as well as hospices, are needed to answer questions and to shape the response to the findings of the study with the aim of improving working arrangements for staff in the future.
The study is funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing and is a collaboration between The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and Liverpool John Moores University. It is titled, ‘Exploring the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the psychological well-being of nurses who care for, treat or support patients with a diagnosis of cancer across Cheshire and Merseyside’.
About 300 nurses who are in regular contact with cancer patients are required and it will not take up too much of your time.
The aims are:
- To explore nurses’ experiences of the psychological impact of COVID-19 on their day-to-day care and support of patients with a diagnosis of cancer
- To assess the impact of COVID-19 on the psychological well-being of nurses
- To inform the development of tailored interventions to promote and sustain the self-management of psychological well-being amongst nurses
- The objectives are:
- To understand i) coping strategies, ii) support systems, iii) knowledge and skills used by nurses to manage their psychological well-being
- To explore longitudinally the transitions in nurses’ psychological well-being
- To identify the barriers and opportunities to nurses’ psychological well-being
