A survey has been launched to collect information from healthcare professionals to help inform and support the continued development and implementation of a workforce programme for cancer support workers.
The Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development Programme (ACCEND) baseline workforce survey is aimed at health and care professionals (support workers, nursing associates, registered nurses, allied health professionals, psychologists and pharmacists) who care for people affected by cancer in generalist and specialist cancer services, across all levels of practice working in the NHS in England.
The survey is designed to collect information to help inform and support the continued development and implementation of the ACCEND programme, which was instigated by Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance (CMCA). The CMCA programme team is working on behalf of the NHS England Cancer and Diagnostics team to programme manage and deliver this work package.
The survey will be…
- Evaluating and assessing the impact of the ACCEND programme and identify trends
- Collecting data that will improve our insight, understanding of the workforce and the education and training required
- Gathering insight to enable future planning across the ACCEND programme
John Gale, ACCEND Supportive and Assistive Lead and a Senior Programme Manager at CMCA said: “We are excited to invite people to contribute to the ACCEND workforce survey, a vital opportunity to shape the future of education, training, and workforce planning for cancer care professionals across England. This quick, 15-minute survey is completely anonymous and designed to collect invaluable insights from health and care professionals.
“We would welcome people completing it and sharing it across their teams, networks and organisations so that all staff have the opportunity to complete this national workforce survey.”
“In doing so, you will be playing a pivotal role in building a robust, data-driven foundation to support the ACCEND Programme's mission to improve outcomes for patients and professionals alike.”
