Annual Report front page.jpgCheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance has produced its first public Annual Report, giving details of the work the alliance has done over the past 12 months.

The alliance brings together organisations, patients, professionals and others to drive improvements leading to better cancer services, better cancer care and better cancer outcomes.

The annual report details how the alliance performed in the financial year until the end of March 2021 and includes updates on its work programmes.

It also outlines how the alliance adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic and the problems Coronavirus brought to cancer services.

Areas covered in the report include cancer screening, rapid diagnostic services (RDSs), personalised care, health inequalities, research, the workforce and the early detection of cancer.

Jon Hayes, Managing Director of CMCA, said: “The year from April 2020 was very challenging due to COVID-19 but the annual report highlights the many successes which have been achieved despite the pandemic.

“These successes include the roll-out of FIT as a diagnostic tool, the continued development of our RDSs and the embedding of personalised stratified follow-ups.

“The annual report is an important way we can show to the population of Cheshire and Merseyside how the alliance is working with organisations across the region to improve cancer services, care and outcomes.”
