The latest Cheshire and Merseyside Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) has opened in Northwich, giving people a faster diagnosis closer to where they live, including for cancer.

This latest facility, managed by the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, adds to five Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) already working across Cheshire and Merseyside, with three more to open in the next 12 months.

Clatterbridge Diagnostics, the first CDC to open in Cheshire and Merseyside last year, welcomed its 25,000th patient last week.

CDCs speed up diagnosis of conditions after patients are referred, including for potential cancers.

Dr Bishop, pictured left, said: “CDCs are increasing capacity and improving access for patients in our region. Their ability to provide a one-stop-shop approach, completing multiple tests at the same time, means we can achieve a diagnosis sooner and improve patient access and experience.”
