The drive to increase the number of people taking up cancer screening across Cheshire and Merseyside has been boosted with the recruitment of a team of co-ordinators to improve uptake.

Five Cancer Screening Co-ordinators are now working across Cheshire and Merseyside to ensure as many people as possible who are invited to breast or bowel screening, attend their appointments and to promote the service across the region.

Cheshire and Merseyside’s Bowel and Breast Screening Improvement Project is one of three screening improvement projects funded by the Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance and led and implemented by the Champs Public Health Collaborative.

The coordinators are based in local trusts and will be working to engage with local communities to increase the uptake of screening for either bowel or breast cancer, by providing information and guidance for those who may need support whilst on their screening journey.

To find out more about the coordinators and to read what encouraged them to take up the role and why screening matters to them, read an article on the Champs website here: https://www.champspublichealth.com/meet-cheshire-and-merseysides-team-of-cancer-screening-coordinators/
