A Merseyside man who was given a cancer diagnosis on Christmas Eve says a lung check “saved his own life”.
Gordon Darnell, from Croxteth, went for a Targeted Lung Health Check in November 2021 even though he had no symptoms.
A scan found the early stages of lung cancer and Gordon was given the diagnosis on Christmas Eve 2021, with surgery to remove it taking place a month later.
Now, a year later, Gordon has told his story to the Liverpool Echo, urging people to come forward for a scan if they are eligible.
The scans are now taking place in St Helens and south Sefton.
