Do you work in primary care or for a community group and want to raise awareness of prostate cancer?
Black men are twice as likely to develop prostate cancer in their lifetime, which has prompted CMCA to join with Prostate Cancer UK to spread information about this with men from the African and African-Caribbean communities.
Men from these communities are less likely to come forward to discuss their risk of prostate cancer but GP surgeries, Primary Care Networks and community groups are being supported to start the conversation with them.
You can find out more about prostate cancer in Black men, download resources and photos, use suggested social media posts and highlight videos in two specially created toolkits, made for CMCA’s Discuss Your Risk campaign.
The one for primary care, which includes information for clinical and non-clinical staff, can be accessed here: https://cmcanceralliance.nhs.uk/resources/introduction/primary-care-resources/discuss-your-risk-be-prostate-cancer-aware-campaign-primary-care
The one for community groups, which includes information on events you can set up, is found here: https://cmcanceralliance.nhs.uk/public-information/discuss-your-risk-be-prostate-cancer-aware-campaign
The message in both is ‘Discuss Your Risk – Be Prostate Cancer Aware’.
