An event organised by Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance (CMCA) to discuss education in the cancer care workforce has been hailed as a success.
The event, held at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool was an opportunity for cancer care staff from across the region to discuss education priorities and to have input to planning and understand the latest developments within CMCA.
The Cancer Alliance’s Workforce Programme Manager Lynn Atkinson and Associate Director Pat Gillis introduced the day-long event and there were talks on the relaunch of CMCA’s education platform The Cancer Academy; on the latest developments in the national ACCEND programme; health inequalities and patient engagement; and on workforce modelling and national funding.
Lynn said: “We were delighted to see so many people at our Education Planning Event and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Cancer treatment and care can only ever be as good as the workforce who implement it and we have amazing people looking after cancer patients in Cheshire and Merseyside.
“However, we know that supporting them is vital to the work they do, especially with the increasing demand for cancer services that we face. This event was designed so CMCA could listen and help lead that support. I’d like to thank everyone who attended from across the region.”
