Four projects initiated by Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance have been shortlisted in prestigious healthcare awards.
Teams from the Cancer Alliance will be heading to the Health Service Journal Awards and the Patient Experience Network National Awards after judges chose them as finalists.
One project is 'The Supportive and Assistive Programme: Supporting the current and future cancer workforce through the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development (ACCEND)' – led by John Gale – which has been shortlisted for Workforce Initiative of the Year in the HSJ Awards.
The other Cancer Alliance HSJ Awards finalist is 'Using FIT testing to revolutionise the diagnosis of bowel cancer across Cheshire and Merseyside' – led by Anna Murray – in the Provider Collaboration of the Year.
Our Health Inequalities and Patient Experience team – led by Jo Trask – has been shortlisted twice in the Patient Experience Network National Awards.
One in the Engaging and Championing The Public award for Start With People: A Readers Panel and another shortlisted in the Staff Engagement and Improving Staff Experience award – the Start With People: Building A Foundation Through Policy and Recruitment project.
Jon Hayes, Managing Director of Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance, said: “It is amazing that our teams have been rightly recognised for the work they have done on these pioneering projects.
“Whatever the outcome in the finals, they are winners, and their projects are already supporting staff and patients in improving outcomes in cancer in our region. Thanks to everyone involved.”
The winners of the awards will be announced later this year.
