FXFROCdWYAImCu3.jpgResearchers are asking anyone touched by cancer to complete a survey which could help them understand more about COVID-19 and cancer patients.

A national study, CCP-Cancer UK, led by researchers at the University of Liverpool, wants to hear the responses and concerns about COVID-19 from those with, or who have experience of cancer.

This is so they can choose how best to analyse their data from an earlier national study into how cancer patients respond when they contract cancer, in ways which are important and relevant to these groups.

Studies have shown that people with cancer have a higher risk of complications from COVID-19. Vaccination can decrease the risk of these complications for many people, including those with cancer. But some patients with certain cancers are unable to respond to the vaccine in the same way as other people, either due to their treatment or their type of cancer, particularly blood cancers which affect immune cells.

The participation of people who have experienced cancer in this survey will help the researchers to achieve their overall aim of providing information about the risks of COVID-19 that will educate clinicians well as help inform current practice and development of guidelines globally with regard to COVID-19 infection in cancer patients.
