Chris Warbuton NHS-Galleri.jpgCMCA’s Medical Director has taken part in a video highlighting an NHS trial of a revolutionary new blood test that can detect more than 50 types of cancer before symptoms appear.

The potentially lifesaving Galleri test checks for the earliest signs of cancer in the blood and the NHS-Galleri trial, the first of its kind, aims to recruit 140,000 volunteers nationally, including thousands across Cheshire and Merseyside to see how well the test works in the NHS.

Dr Chris Warburton, pictured, was filmed outside the trial’s mobile clinic when it was situated in Runcorn, speaking about how important the test could be in detecting cancer earlier when it is easier to treat.

The mobile clinic is now in Warrington and will move on to St Helens next month and then to Widnes before other areas of Cheshire and Merseyside. CMCA has helped to organise the rollout of the study across our region.

You can see Dr Warburton in the video on the official study website here: https://www.nhs-galleri.org/about-the-trial

You can find out more information about the trial, and if you are able to volunteer to participate, on the website.
